Sparco Evo 2 Racing Seats

More comfortable, more support, saves weight.  Wow, what could be better?  Well you lose access to the rear seats (so I may as well remove them), you lose the airbags that are in the side bolsters of the seats, and you lose height adjustment.  Losing the airbags is a bummer, but I never adjusted the heights, and rarely do I have rear seat passengers.  The stock seats weigh about 50lbs with brackets, and the Sparcos weigh about 25lbs with brackets for a 2-seat saving of about 50lbs.

I used Brey-Krause side mount brackets that fit the stock sliders and the Sparco Evo 2 seats, which are a little wider than the standard Sparco seats.

Below is the bolt on the stock seat holding the seat belt clasp.  I removed this and installed it on the Brey-Krause brackets so that I could use the stock seatbelt and prevent warning lights from glowing.

You have to "fool" the OBD computer into thinking the airbags are still installed, which is achieved with a 4ohm shunt resistor across the airbag connector under the seat.  It's shown as the black wrapped pack in the photo below.  Also shown are the wires to the seatbelt detector and pre-tensioner, which must be connected to prevent lights from glowing on the dash board.

Not only does the passenger seat have an airbag, it also has a weight sensor to detect if a child is seated there, so that the airbag can be turned off.  The weight sensor is very complicated, and cannot be simply left out of the system, or short circuited.  I ended up cutting it out of the stock seat cushion and installing it under the Sparco padding.  Not pretty, but once plugged in, it no longer sets off the alarms or warning lights.
