The stairs contain many wonders. There are two independent spirals starting opposite each other.  Also, the spacing of the steps decreases while descending, and the angle of the stairs increases toward the bottom--so long, shallow steps at the top, short, deep steps at the bottom. (This is best seen in the alternative photo.)
